About the Project

Family influence, passion, and the love of getting my hands dirty has resulted in this project. I hope you will journey with me as I share insights, recipes, and a bit of my life's story with you all. My hope is to share in a way that helps us all to recognize the beautiful gift that Creator has given us. Our role as humans is to care for, serve, and protect creation. One of the ways we can do this is through the act of gardening. Gardening is something that the younger generations have lost the knowledge to do and so there is intergenerational wisdom that needs to be passed on. Gardening is an act of community building, service for the other, and is rooted deep in the Hebrew Scripture. Together we can dig into some of these topics and cultivate a more fruitful sense of how we are all interconnected.

A bit About Tashia

My whole life, I have been blessed to spend ample time outside. My brothers and I were raised in a home where we had church clothes and play clothes. My maternal grandpa loved gardening and had an epic backyard that was dedicated to growing beans, peas, potatoes, kohlrabi, tomatoes, and award-winning gladiolas, to mention a small fraction of the many wonderful plants found at 1059 Coteau Street. I learned many life lessons in the dirt with my grandpa. One of the final gifts that I received was an assortment of gardening tools and grow lights to start garden vegetables from seeds. This experience has been foundational in my personal and spiritual life and I want to share this with others. I have started literally hundreds of seeds, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peppers, lettuces, and herbs. These will be available for purchase in May for you to take a small piece of this legacy into your own yards.

Each week we will explore one of the lessons learnt from growing up in the garden. If you have questions or comments about any of the material covered, or would like to share a bit of your own story and life lessons from the garden, I would love to hear them.
